14. Crossfire at the Basement, 15/3/83

(a rare band shot with Mark Riley, who died in a motorbike accident shortly afterwards – though Greg Lyons is replaced by Paul Pooley here)

No-one can remember the details of how this recording came about or how it was done. I would have been taking care of the live mix and Lana Lazareff recorded this Basement gig and later did the mixes presented here. Our best guess is that a 1/2″ 8 track recorder was used for the capture (it was still pre-affordable-digital), and the mixes done at the Opera House, where Lana was working, in the studio they had at the time, with it’s small format Neve broadcast console.
